What is behind the Touched with Sound Name and Website

Welcome to the Touched With Sound Website!

I developed this website as a way to provide general information on Sound Therapy, how it works and to introduce offerings for Sound Healing. As a Registered Nurse, I have always been fascinated with the science behind how our bodies work, how they breakdown and how they heal.  There is actually quite a bit of scientific research being conducted now on the use of sound but many people are not aware of it yet!

I used the name Touched with Sound because sound is transmitted through our skin, our bones, and our ears.  It is not all about hearing.  It is about vibration.  So in essence, sound is not limited to those that can hear.

We can use sound to help us bring our bodies into a state of wellbeing.  In the medical field, we have been using sound for many, many years already to help diagnose issues. We use ultrasound for imaging parts of our bodies, we use high frequency sound waves to break up masses (lithotripsy for kidney stones is an example), we can use tuning forks on the body to identify bone fractures etc.

Research has been done on the use of sound for entrainment. An AI overview of entrainment as cited in google describes entrainment “as a phenomenon where two systems synchronize their rhythms or patterns and it can occur in physical, biological and social systems”.  You can do a little study on it yourself as well by doing the following.  Take your pulse then get a drum and play a consistent rhythm at a lower rate for 5 minutes.  Take your pulse again after 5 minutes.  Did  the rate change?  If you do not have a drum, you could use a box, a pot, a book or any other solid object as a drum in this experiment.  Fascinating isn’t it!

In today’s world, we live in a very fast paced world and there is so much going on around us. Many are finding that they are anxious or at least not relaxed or steady.  Sound can be used in so many ways to help get back to a state of better wellness.  My hope is to provide information for you to consider as you look to initiate self-care and increase your positive wellbeing and wellness.

Welcome aboard as well explore the use of sound together!
