What instruments are used in sound healing/therapy?

Many different instruments are used in Sound Healing and many more keep being added.  Often people think about crystal bowls when they think of sound healing but there are many more options.  Here are a few of them.

Crystal bowls or pyramids– they can be heavier frosted crystal bowls, thinner clear or colored quartz crystal bowls or even alchemy bows (mineral or gem infused bowls)

Tibetan or Himalayan bowls – metal bowls

Drums. Ocean drums, and beaters

Tuning Forks – both weighted and unweighted

String instruments (monoline, monochord, harp, violin, guitar etc.)

Chimes and bells – koshi chimes, zaphir chimes, bells, tingshas etc.

Gongs

Rain Sticks

Shakers

Kalimba and Sansulas

Keep in mind that the different instruments produce sounds that are of various notes and can be used to produce harmonious relaxing sounds or dissonant releasing sounds.  They all have a place in the sound arena!

Did you know that you many respond differently to the same instrument at different times?  So for example, some like low pitched sounds of the bowls but on other days they find it irritating?  It is not that it is being played differently or even wrong but can perhaps mean that your body is responding differently?  Remember – our issues are in our tissues…. So you will feel differently based on where you are that day. Just like some days you feel happy and content and some days you feel anxious or even irritable!  Work with what comes up for you!
